New Old Ways by El Carlo

book 1
This book is the second compilation of line drawings and stencils by my friend El Carlo, comprising the most interesting works from 2013 to 2015. Some of You ( lucky ones) may have the first sketchbook he put up when we were working at Aloha Tattoos Barcelona some years ago. Well, this one is a whole new world! Same spirit but with a professional edition thanks to Okulus Bookshop (former Freaks Books Barcelona) and the inner design work by Terry Sucrana from Black Bible Books. Cover design is done by Ana Revuelto with an old Carlo’s linocut piece.

As you can see in the pictures, this is not the standard kind of sketchbook we are used to. Carlo’s choice for a powerful and wild composition of elements, in collaboration with Terry Sucrana, has been great. Not boring. Not usual. Still full of info and very easy to manage due to the measures of the book. For all these reasons we are very happy at Eclipse because this is our first collaboration with Okulus Bookshop and Publishing and the result is great. For all of You who already know Carlo and his work, you’ll also find it familiar in some way, the book itself it’s a good reflection of his attitude towards tattooing. Out of the mainstream tattoo trends, this compilation speaks for it self and shows a wide experience by the author in treating with the old icons and his own aesthetic proposals.
It’s been a privilege for me to see the early stages of this project and all the work involved in it. I know I’m not the hardest critic too! But trust me, give it a try if you already have a sketchbook collection or you want to start it someday. You can check the book out at Okulus Bookshop in Barcelona or at any of the tattoo conventions they attend during the year. I know that USA distribution has already begun. Next events where you can find it will be the Florence and Brussels tattoo conventions this next November. You can buy it online through proyectoeclipse.bigcartel.com .

Summer tattoos 2017

Summer is getting hot as fuck this year in Barcelona but somehow we keep on going. Those tattoos are some of my favourites from July and this starting august. Thanks to all my clients who come from outside Spain to get some tattoos done by me. I have also started a new project with this backpiece.

2017 is the chinese year of the Rooster and this tattoo will be finished before it ends. By far, one of my favourite large pieces I had the luck to start. I had also the honour to add a new layer of tattoos on Mark Mason’s wild collection. This is the result of what’s getting really interesting and cool:

If you don’t know Mark’s work yet, check it out soon. He’s by far one of the most handpocketing experienced tattooers working in Barcelona. He works with us at Eclipse Tattoo Barcelona during summers and his agenda is always open to fit you in.

Next week I’ll be working in Germany again. I’m excited to be again doing what I like most in one of my favourite places: Farbaffäere. These are my dates and places if you want to get tattooed:

Time Machine II

tm II 5
Finally, here it is! My second time machine is finished. This time the size was important in order to get faster results so I changed my big working sheets for a Din A3 one. I must say it’s been a pain in the ass for the amount of detail… but in a matter of seven days everything was done.
This little traveller will see the light in a limited giclée print edition very soon because I’m happier with the result than I was with the first time machine. I’m trying to make some evolution with every piece and it’s getting really fun so, I guess somehow this can become a series one day. Who knows! Some pictures of the process and details:

Thank you very much for your support and your opinions about my work. Keep an eye on Proyecto Eclipse for more news. This is my mail for further requests or comissions:

November tattoos

November has been a busy month for me and Proyecto Eclipse. Florence, Dortmund, Granada and my home Barcelona had been great. These are some of my favourite tattoos done during this month. Both the kraken and the Vulture are half way healing and I will have better and more detailed pictures in the future. Once again, I want to give thanks to all my clients featured here. I’m specially happy to have tattooed Sebastian from Farbaffaere Dortmund once again, my experience there has been amazing. And Florian, thank you very much for picking up the skull spider from my sketchbook… this kind of tattoos keeps me going on! Fran Fernandez, from Ondo Tattoo Barcelona, has come again to get this pair of eyes on his shoulders…always great to have him in the studio for the endless chat!
Finally Roger and Corpus, the Kraken and the vulture, have been two of my bests clients ever. I’m extremely grateful for their trust, ideas and kindness. Thank you very much, for real.

BARCELONA-

One raven, one portrait and some demiurge

Eye, wolf, krampus, hand, clock and heart.

I’ll stay all summer in Barcelona. Don’t doubt to write or come directly to the studio and talk. Thanks again!
