¡Eclipse Tattoo al fin!

ECLIPSE TATTOO BCN 6Hemos tardado algo más de lo previsto pero por fin hemos abierto puertas. Eclipse Tattoo Barcelona está funcionando desde este pasado miércoles 5 de febrero. Ha sido un camino largo que empezó mucho antes incluso de encontrar este local tan especial en el número 53 de Torrent de l’Olla, en el barrio de Gracia. A Carlo, Rotor y a mí nos ha explotado la cabeza varias veces en este trayecto y no nos hemos dejado ni un gramo de energía fuera de este estudio. Los que nos conocísteis en nuestra etapa juntos trabajando en Aloha Tattoos nos veréis ahora un poco más viejos, ¡pero con las mismas ganas de seguir siendo nosotros mismos! Nacho Eterno y Anna Revuelto se nos suman en este inicio de etapa y no podemos estar más contentos por ello. Vamos a trabajar de lunes a sábado para atender a todos los que quieran pasar a visitarnos y a tatuarse con nosotros. Esperamos realmente que os guste este espacio y nos ayudéis a dotarlo de toda la história que le queda por venir. Gracias a todos los que nos han apoyado para realizar este proyecto : família, amigos y colegas. ¡Os esperamos!

Hallo!

I’m grateful to announce that I’ll be working at Farbaffäre with my german friends once again. This time it’s special because on these dates the studio is celebrating it’s nine anniversary. Basti and the guys had organized such an event with a flash day and some cool live music. Here’s the explanation in Deutsch:

Vor 9 Jahren öffnete die Farbaffäre das erste Mal ihre Pforten. Nun startet das 10te Jahr und das wollen wir mit Euch feiern!

Wir starten schon Mittags mit einem großen Jubiläums-Walk-In in einem beheizten Zirkuszelt im Außenbereich der Dortmunder AusnahmelocationJunkYard Dortmund. Hierzu haben wir 20 befreundete Tätowierer an den Start geholt! Diese werden wir euch noch einzeln in dieser Veranstaltung vorstellen.

Nach dem Walk-In lassen wir es dann richtig krachen!
Ab 20Uhr starten wir unsere Party mit einem Konzert in der angrenzenden Halle des JunkYards.

«Vvlva» aus Aschaffenburg liefern Euch 70’s Heavy- und Krautrock und «Heat» aus Berlin versorgen Euch mit einer ordentlichen Ladung 70’s Hardrock.

Im Anschluss legen Mitglieder der Bands noch ihre Lieblingsplatten aus den Genres
Rock‘n‘Roll, Psychedelic, Kraut- Hard- und Heavy Rock auf und das, bis keiner mehr steht!

Der Eintritt für die Tattoo-Convetion + Konzert+ Party liegt bei 8€.

Well! Brussels Tattoo Convention is about to begin and I’m already fully booked. I want to give thanks to my clients who booked their appointments months ago. I’ve also saved some time in the saturday and sunday afternoons to do some designs from my sketchbook and talk to anyone interested in our merch at Eclipse. I really love when conventions get dynamic and I can get in touch with new clients and tattooers. All these designs are not too big, easy to endure if you choose the right area! Please don’t doubt to drop by our booth at any time and ask. I’ll be glad to help out. See you there!

Dortmund and Wuppertal

Recently I travelled back to Dortmund one more time and I also had the chance to participate in the Wuppertal Tattoo Convention. This trip was special because I had the best time with my friends but also because I was far from home when the terror attacks took place in the heart of Barcelona. I want to give thanks again to all those who asked about the situation in my city during the past weekend. As many places before in Europe, Barcelona is getting back to it’s normality.
All the tattoos here were done between the studio and the convention.

Again I had the luck of having the best clients. My special thanks for the ideas of Patrick, Henja, Ricardo and the choice of Arndt from my sketchbook. It means a lot when you feel so welcomed and you can do what you like most.

As I told you before, I was with my friends this time in Germany. Spending time and tattoo hours with Basti, Renata, Alejo, Marco, Marvin and Melissa has been great. Hope to repeat the experience in the future!

My next tattoo trip will be to the Brussels Tattoo Convention alongside my friends Rotor, Carlo, Ana and Nacho. We all are Eclipse Tattoo Barcelona and this will be the first convention for us using this name. Summer tattoos 2017

Summer is getting hot as fuck this year in Barcelona but somehow we keep on going. Those tattoos are some of my favourites from July and this starting august. Thanks to all my clients who come from outside Spain to get some tattoos done by me. I have also started a new project with this backpiece.

2017 is the chinese year of the Rooster and this tattoo will be finished before it ends. By far, one of my favourite large pieces I had the luck to start. I had also the honour to add a new layer of tattoos on Mark Mason’s wild collection. This is the result of what’s getting really interesting and cool:

Thank You all for keeping an eye on my work. August will be an important month for us at Eclipse and the construction works of our new studio. Next post will have some new photos of the process.

Time Machine II prints and new patches

Finally here! Time Machine II print is available through Proyecto Eclipse webstore. It’s been my first time working with this new version of the old known museum etching paper by Hahnemühle. As you can see in the pictures, the edge is deckled, just like it was a handmade watercolour paper. This adds a nice, less cold touch to this limited edition of 8 copies. All of them are signed, numbered and embossed by me. They come with a certificate of authenticity and they have been masterfully printed at Impressionart once again.  All the technical info about the print is in the shop.

You’ll see I have also designed some new patches and I’m very happy with the result! The moon and star patch, named as Cycle patches, are only available together. The big one, is a twisted reinterpretation of Milton’s cosmology diagram from his classic poem Paradise Lost. The diagram appeared for the first time in Homer Sprague’s 1883 edition, nearly after 200 years of the first publication…and it’s amazing. My first idea was to replicate the diagram as it was:

But! despite it is an amazing picture and idea, it would be a poor challenge to do it that way. So I started to think and later on I found out my own concepts to make this patch. By switching some words and using the death representation as a centre, my Milton’s inspired patch came up. Last part of the process was doing a good research into some books of military insignia from the second world war and Vietnam too. I really love that stuff you know… I have also had the support and advice from El Carlo and Rotor. Once again their expertise in this field solved many problems before they even appeared. Take a look:

Don’t doubt to get your patch as soon as you can. Once they are gone, it’s almost sure they’ll never be back. Limited editions help us to keep our minds creative but they run out fast. We also like to have new stuff as often as we can at Eclipse.

Proyecto Eclipse sigue su camino y da un paso más. A Carlo, Rotor y a mí nos alegra enormemente anunciar que vamos a montar un estudio de tatuajes en nuestra ciudad. Recientemente y después de una larga búsqueda hemos encontrado un local en el barrio de Gracia que nos parece increíble para trabajar todos juntos. Nos esperan unos meses de esfuerzo y calor para tenerlo a punto en otoño pero sabemos que valdrá la pena.

Después de trabajar en Nahkoé, Aloha y en mi estudio privado junto a Carlo, tengo unas ganas enormes de crear un espacio propio junto a mis socios y amigos. Se cumplen once años en 2017 desde que empecé a tatuar y siento que parte del proceso de seguir adelante en Barcelona pasaba por tomar esta decisión. Gracias a Proyecto Eclipse y un montón de horas de trabajo detrás, ¡parece ser que será posible!

Queremos dar las gracias a todos los que han seguido este proceso durante los últimos meses, especialmente a nuestros amigos y família. A partir de ahora queremos sumar a todo aquel que quiera a esta experencia de construir este nuevo espacio. Por mi parte mantendré el blog actualizado lo máximo posible y a través del instagram de Eclipse podréis también ver todas las noticias. ¡Esperemos no aburrir!

Proyecto Eclipse is moving forward. Carlo, Rotor and I are extremely happy to announce the opening of our own tattoo studio in Barcelona. After a long research we’ve come up with a nice place in the neighbourhood of Gracia that seems incredible to work all together. We expect a lot of heat and work in the next months but we are sure it’s going to be worthy. 

After working at Nahkoé, Aloha and my own private studio alongside Carlo, I deeply wanted to create a common space with my friends and partners. It’s eleven years now since I started tattooing and this is definetely a great call to make to keep on going in Barcelona. Thanks to Proyecto Eclipse and a thousand working hours this might come to an end!

We want to give thanks to everyone who has followed this process during the last months, our friends and family. From now on, everyone who’s interested in the process of building this new space is more than welcome. This blog will keep updated as usual and Eclipse’s instagram will display all the news. We hope not to bore You!

Summer is here…

Well…it’s getting fucking hot in Barcelona but we keep on working as always!
