Shuttle Raven of the Dream

I’m glad to finally show the result of my collaboration with Utech Records for Li Jianhong’s new work. Label words:

The Other Side of The Mountain is The Dreamland.

Is there such a thing as a guitar antihero? Li Jianhong might be it. A pillar of the Chinese experimental music community, Jianhong’s solo guitar explorations run the gamut from drone, noise and spontaneous responses to the world around him (what he calls Environment Improvisation) to brain-altering psychedelic dreamscapes.

Shuttle Raven of the Dream is his fourth release on Utech Records, following 2009’s Lo Pan and 2012’s Go Back to the Sirius (both as part of the duo VagusNerve) and 2020’s Wanghai Gang. Where that album offered a single 46-minute live piece, Shuttle Raven consists of three studio recordings ranging in length from nine minutes to nearly 21.

“Bon Voyage, Erma” is a blissful, layered collection of harmonizing drones; “Stone Crab” begins with a skull-scraping wave of noise, eventually transitioning to solo psych-rock ecstasy; and the title piece is a high-volume epic seemingly designed to be played through loudspeakers mounted across entire cities.

This is a limited edition CD packaged in a heavy jacket with full-color inner sleeve and obi. Designed by Stefan Thanneur.

I’m always available to work on bands and musician related artwork. From album covers to tour posters and merchandise. Just feel free to ask if you think that your project can use my artwork. All mails answered in record time!

Thanks!
